Frequently Asked Questions

  • I started Eating Out Austin for a couple reasons:

    1. I wanted a tool like the Happy Hour Hunter for me and my friends to use.

    2. I have a terrible memory. I’ve had amazing experiences going out to eat around the city and I wanted to categorize the information for myself. I leave a lot of Google reviews and I see how it helps the business and also other restaurant goers.

    3. The Austin food reviewers I follow have separated into two categories: a boy’s club & the family friendly side. I wanted something dedicated to adult women! We have money too and we love to spend it at restaurants and bars too.

  • No! I’m a Detroit, Michigan transplant! I was moved here as a teenager by my parents.

My dad had traveled to Austin pretty often my whole life, as he is in the tech industry, his company’s headquarters is here in Austin. They wanted to move us here when I was younger, but my parents held out until I graduated high school. The day after I walked across the stage at graduation, we got on a plane and moved to Austin. I spent that summer working as a carhop at the Oak Hill Sonic.

I spent two years in Dallas to attend UTD, then transferred to TXST. I moved from San Marcos to Austin when I graduated in 2019, and I’ve had an Austin address ever since.

My parents and boyfriend were in Austin that whole time, so I’ve spent every holiday at a nice restaurant in this town for almost a decade now.

Rarely leaving Michigan, Texas was a culture shock. Over the last almost ten years, Austin and the state of Texas have drastically shaped who I am, how I act. I’m 1/3 Texan (and getting more Texan every day!)

  • I aim to talk about a wide range of places, including local gems, popular hotspots, and lesser-known eateries and bars.

I love exploring the entire spectrum of Austin’s dining and drinking experiences. I figure if food or drink is involved at all and I like it, it qualifies for the blog/instagram page.

  • Absolutely! I’ve created a Facebook group associated with Eating Out Austin where you can share your dining and drinking adventures with the community. I’m eager to hear about your personal recommendations and experiences.
