The Story Behind Eating Out Austin

How My Passion for Austin’s Food Turned into a Growing Brand

I’m a digital marketer with experience in lots of industries now: food, restaurants, construction, roofing, hair salons, plant nurseries, realtors, basketball clubs, private pilates coaches, and more.

After helping others grow their brands and putting a little bit of my own “taste” into each brand I’ve worked for, I finally made my own business.

I started with a Google Sheet.

I love enjoying a cheap cocktail with my friends, so I started organizing our favorite happy hours and sharing it among my crew. The group of people sharing it grew, and I wanted to make it easier to use, so I commissioned a developer friend to make me a website with my list of 101 of Austin’s best deals, so you can organize them by day of the week & neighborhood.

I wanted to share it. I’m a digital marketer, and I specialize in organic social media reach. So, I started an Instagram page. My brand, Eating Out Austin, was born.

As the Type-A person that I am, I wanted to systematically try a restaurant from each category each week to ensure the content is varied. As I started planning, I realized every friend I spoke to about this mission wanted to be invited because they, without any page, had the exact same mission of trying for themselves all the best food in the city.

As I started posting on my Austin-Girly page, 2 things became clear:
(1) I had women in my DMs who wanted to meet up with me for a cocktail, just to be friends, which I adored. I met with a couple girls & realized they would all love each other too. &
(2) in a post-Covid world of remote workers, a weekly community where people, who aren’t your high school friends, your coworkers, or your partner ask you how your last week was, is so nice! There are lots of clubs around Austin that do this, but every weekly one that I was interested in required one thing I could not budge on: running.

So I had a website, an instagram page, and now, a Supper Club.

There is a theme every week. It can be anything: Rooftops, Espresso-Martinis, Guy-Fieri-Ate-Here-Once, Desserts, etc. Basically, the only requirement is that it’s open Wednesdays, 8-10pm and it kinda fits the theme.

Mondays, we vote! 24 poll on the instagram story.
Tuesdays, I post an official invite with the address we meet at
Wednesdays, we eat! It’s always family style. Everyone just wants one bite of everything.
Thursdays, I post a vlog of Wednesday from my POV.
& Fridays, I post next week’s theme and crowdsource nominees.

As a Thank-You for spending 2 hours with me, your first supper club you get a sticker, then after 5 supper clubs you get a bottle opener. I’m working on the next ones.

This week (Feb 12) is supper club number TEN! 10!!!!

I started this mid-December, so it feels quick but also it feels like the brand means something completely different now.

SO. MUCH. COMING. SOON.
